I have been in retail what seems like a hundred years and am interested in the thought of owning my own business. But I do want to have som time for my family as we have 4 children at home and the 50 to 60 hrs a week I work as a store mgr for another retailer is getting old. Does anyone have any inside info on running a dealer store?

Good initial thought! Owning your own business is the american dream, especially every one of us that says "if my boss can do it, then I DEFINITELY can do it!"

The only problem, is that the first few years, you should get used to 70 – 80 hour weeks and it taking up a bunch of time in order to build a successful, profitable business that runs without you. The only way to really get the 50 hr work week is to work for someone else, and let them worry about things when you go home to your family.

The benefit of a franchise is that the systems are already in place, so you just have to put the right people in the mix! You might want to consider a franchise coach. Someone that considers your skills and personality and then finds a good match for you based on that.

I can’t remember the name of one right now though, sorry! But good luck! ;) ….boss.

PS I’d stay away from Old School brick and mortar like Sears.

. I like your idea but i would encourage you to skip the franchise and just sell the items that interest you. All of us who own a business know that we will be putting long days and weeks.
I don’t have inside info on a dealer store.

Be your own boss and own your own business.

They have 2,500 products, 3,000 partner stores (including Sears) and 35 million products.

I am a single mom and I love having my own business. You are not in competition with other people because you work with your team and share commissions (100%).
